Welcome to another blog post! This week my friend Anna and I decided to spend our Friday wandering around Prague, trying all sorts of

FOREIGN FAST FOOD!

ree

I honestly cannot remember the last time I ate a full meal from a fast food restaurant, let alone AN ENTIRE DAY'S WORTH! But this was super fun to taste test foreign versions of our fast food classics.

Our FIRST STOP was, of course...

McDonalds.

Let me start off by saying... a few things Prague McDonalds does not have:

1. all day breakfast

2. pancakes

3. (because no pancakes...) McGriddles

4. an English menu

The lack of each of these items caused a bit of stress for us. For one, we arrived at McDonalds at 10:32 thinking breakfast went until 11... but it went until 10:30, so of course we were in an extreme rush to order as soon as we walked in. This became slightly more complicated when I realized I wanted a McGriddle, but they did not serve those. So I went over to the menu to decide what I was going to get in replace of my lovely McGriddle... and I could not read A THING. Yeah, yeah, it was pretty much the same as in America so I shouldn't have been struggling this much... except for the fact that it WASN'T the same at all! They had some toast options, some different meats, and an entire McCafe menu. But even with all these additional items, I wanted to really go back to my roots and order a classic, so I got the egg&cheese McGriddle and a hash brown.

Our overall ratings of our McDonalds items: Anna's McGriddle: 7/10, Alex's McGriddle: 7/10, hashbrown: 5/10... Pretty similar to American McDonalds if you ask me!

Our SECOND STOP was another American classic...

Starbucks.

We planned on getting some lunch at Starbucks, but the Starbucks locations here do not have the variety of food/snacks that they do at home (those protein packs with eggs and apples are killer!! Praguers are missin' out!). So I went for a classic iced black tea with added cinnamon... DELISH.

STOP NUMBER THREE was a restaurant native to Europe...

Bageterie Boulevard.

This chain can only be found throughout the Czech Republic and a few other countries around Central Europe, so those of you outside this small area of availability are TRULY missing out. I ordered a Pear & Gorgonzola sandwich while Anna ordered something on a baguette. These sandwiches were delicious and I cannot wait to go back to BB for some lunch later this semester.

P.S. There's a super cool video on BB's website that tells a little about their history, you can check it out here!

FOURTH STOP was...

KFC.

Extremely random, I just wanted a corn on the cob. And that's exactly what I got... much to the worker's surprise and disgust. Has no one ever walked in at 4 pm and asked for "just 1 side of corn, please" before? Sheesh!

STOP NUMBER FIVE, the finale...

Burger King.

This stop means a little something to me because Burger King was actually my inspiration for having this fast-food-day. At home I HATE BK milkshakes. I think they are way too thick (I work at an ice cream place, I know the importance of a thick shake, but these are just way too much) you can't even slurp them up! I swear it's just soft serve given with a straw... so I wanted to see if it would be different here. And oh boy! it was! Much to my request, the shake was significantly thinner than the American versions... too thin, actually. As notes in my vlog, it tasted more like milk with oreos in it than a milkshake. Plus it was only half-way filled up which also made me a little mad. But considering my stomach's typical reaction to things like ice cream, milk, creme, milkshakes, etc... I shouldn't be complaining too much. It was probably the perfect amount.

Overall, the day way super fun and it was really cool to see the differences between American and European fast food. Considering I can't even remember the last time I got something from ONE fast food place, it was a real treat trying some tasty things from FIVE! And it's always good to get a little reminder of home (like that smell of Starbucks or Subway that I get every once in a while here) while being away for sooooo long!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my fast food update and I can't wait to post again next week, BIG TRIP COMING UP THIS WEEKEND!!

CAN ANYONE GUESS WHERE I'M HEADED?!?!?!

Whoever guesses correctly gets a complimentary Prague-McDonalds burger from me! (Kidding, I do not condone eating meat... but did everyone hear McDonalds is coming out with VEGAN chicken nugs?!?!?)

Thanks for staying tuned this whole semester, I'm so glad I will have this blog and my videos to look back on.

Until next time,

xoxo,

(a)Lex

p.s. Mom, I know you prefer my videos showcase the beautiful surroundings and people more than the food im eating... so sorry about this post hehe!
